The FQ introduces new support measures for clubs with the publication of the Guide for Club Referees

Football Queensland (FQ) today released a Club Referee Guide to help clubs provide a safe and inclusive environment for club referees and to support the retention of match officials across the state.

The guide presents valuable information for clubs in a range of relevant areas including the recruitment of club referees, the role of the club referee coordinator, appointment processes and provides opportunities for development and incident management.

“We are delighted to launch the new Club Umpires Guide to help clubs build a strong foundation for their club umpires,” said FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci.

“Club officiating is the first step in the referee journey and is therefore a crucial aspect of recruitment and retention, as we know that the growth of our game depends on the quality of our referees.

“This guide will help clubs provide a safe and inclusive environment for their club referees that encourages them to serve the game at club level and beyond.

“In line with recent appointments of new referee development staff across Queensland, Football Queensland continues to focus on providing training and development opportunities to all referees in the state.

“The publication of the Club Referee Guide also reflects the QF’s commitment to providing stronger support to clubs by equipping them with the tools to nurture and develop their referees.”
