Original press release:
KRYTAR announces a new directional coupler with 30 dB coupling coverages from 26.5 to 40.0 GHz
January 25, 2022, Sunnyvale, Calif. — KRYTAR, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of ultra-wideband microwave components and test equipment, announces the continued expansion of its line of directional couplers with the addition of a new model offering 30 dB of nominal coupling over the frequency range of 26.5 to 40.0 GHz (Ka band), in a compact and lightweight package.
KRYTAR’s new directional coupler, model 264030, enhances the selection of multi-purpose stripline designs that feature excellent coupling in a single compact and lightweight package. The new directional coupler lends itself to wireless designs and many test and measurement applications in the K band. The Ka band is typically used for commercial and military satellite communications (SATCOM). The Directional Coupler is specifically designed for system applications where external leveling, precise monitoring, signal mixing, or swept transmission and reflection measurements are required. The coupler will find additional use in antenna beamforming and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) test environments. For many space-constrained applications, the compact size makes KRYTAR directional couplers ideal.
KRYTAR’s new directional coupler, Model 264030, offers superior performance including nominal coupling (relative to output) of 30dB, ±1.0dB, and frequency sensitivity of ±0.5dB. The directional coupler features an insertion loss (including coupled power) of 1.3dB, directivity better than 12dB, maximum VSWR (any port) of 1.7, input power of 20W in average and a peak of 3 kW.
The new directional coupler comes with standard 2.4mm SMA female connectors. The compact case measures just 1.12 inches (L) x 0.40 inches (W) x 0.62 inches (H) and weighs just 1.0 ounces. The operating temperature is -54° to 85°C. The directional coupler can also be manufactured to meet ribbed military specifications.
