Schon die Ur-Ausführung des Game Boys durfte einige Erfolge feiern, und das lag nicht nur am Marketing. Tatsächlich hatte Nintendo es geschafft, eine mobile und technisch ausgereifte Spielmaschine zu entwickeln, die mit ordentlichen Spielen und einer hübschen Pixelgrafik noch weiter punkten konnte.

Sergio Ingravalle hat das alles nicht vergessen, und bringt uns mit dem Buch Pixel Galaxy noch einmal zurück in die gute alte Zeit:

PIXELGALAXY is a book all about the Nintendo Gameboy and the pixel graphics. It includes its secret of success, an overview of the top games and takes a closer look at the graphics. For many people this book is full of nostalgia, a journey through time back to the childhood and an inspiration for designers, at the same time (250 pages).

Kaufen können wir das gute Stück, das übrigens komplett in Deutsch verfasst wurde, leider noch nicht. Sergio ist aber bereits auf der Suche nach einem Verleger. Hoffen wir, dass er Erfolg hat!

Das 1994 erschienene Panzer General war durch seine Thematik sehr umstritten, und gehörte doch zum Besten was das Strategiegenre zu bieten hatte. Mit LGeneral gibt es ein Remake, was sich zwar nicht 100% an das Original hält, aber doch sehr viel damit gemeinsam hat:

LGeneral is a turn-based strategy engine heavily inspired by Panzer General. You play single scenarios or whole campaigns turn by turn against a human player or the AI. Entrenchment, rugged defense, defensive fire, surprise contacts, surrender, unit supply, weather influence, reinforcements and other implementations contribute to the tactical and strategic depth of the game.

The World is Saved is a new epic song and anthem for video game fans. This was a collaborative effort from IGN’s Podcast Beyond community. IGN’s Ryan Clements pulled together a small team of volunteers to animate a video for Danny Wiessner’s latest single. The video debuted at the end of the live recording of Podcast Beyond Episode 200.
